What is that? Well, remember how I said there were three television shows based on this franchise? Two of them were game shows - вЂњWhere in the WorldвЂ¦?вЂќ and вЂњWhere in TimeвЂ¦?вЂќ - but the third was actually a full-fledged animated series. So, why even bother placing this one on the list? Well, this game has something none of the other Carmen games have. This one makes things easier for pre-readers/early learners by making the clues picture-based, is much shorter than most of the other games (with only fourteen cases to solve), having the warrants be picture-puzzles, and replacing the time limit with a вЂњbattery limit,вЂќ basically meaning the player can stay as long as they like in any given place, but get less chances to choose a place to stop, so that the risk is still there. Now, the typical formula of many of the older games (and some of the more recent ones) is a little convoluted, but it basically follows the same formula: the player has to find clues related to facts about a certain country or continent, use these clues to hunt down the villain, assemble a warrant along the way, and then arrest the villain.all before they run out of time. As a result, thereвЂ™s little reason to play it if you are much older. While Carmen has always been geared at younger audiences and players, the age range usually ran for Elementary to Middle School ages вЂњJunior DetectiveвЂќ was a simplified version of the seriesвЂ™ most recurring and popular title, вЂњWhere in the World is Carmen Sandiego?вЂќ intended for children of early grades (below, say, second or third grade) and lower. Now, to be entirely fair to the game, when the title is literally вЂњJunior Detective,вЂќ you can immediately guess why. So, letвЂ™s take a trip to the past! Fittingly, games were how I was introduced to this character a perhaps underrated Mistress of Misdemeanors who I honestly feel I owe quite a debt to. (VillainsвЂ™ International League of Evil), to her constant nemeses, the Chief of the ACME Detective Agency and all of their associates. Games are where Carmen and her world was born everything from her colorful and grotesque henchmen of V.I.L.E. Everything from ElvisвЂ™ Pink Cadillac, to entire mountain ranges! Mysterious and unpredictable, greed and power are rarely CarmenвЂ™s real endgame with an IQ of genius level, she constantly seeks intellectual challenges, and loves the thrill of the chase. Carmen targets rare or even unique objects one-of-a-kind treasures of history that can never be replaced. Well, I certainly remember her! This masterful villainess was the worldвЂ™s greatest thief, but mere money is never enough. Yet, somehow, despite this incredibly widespread amount of attention, and this obvious pedigree and reputation behind Carmen and her crimes.is it weird that almost nobody I know even remembers her? You just thought, as a player or a viewer, that you were experiencing a fun, crazy adventure/detective story! Yet how many of us, especially from the 1990s, learned more about these subjects from Carmen Sandiego and her capers than from our hard-working schoolteachers? The franchise was one of the first to really master the art of вЂњedutainmentвЂќ - teaching educational lessons in history, geography, mathematics, art, various sciences, and language, just to name a few subjects, but doing so in a way that you never really realized you were being taught. There are Carmen Sandiego Days and celebrations held all around the world, with special mystery dinner parties, convention events, and more taking place everywhere.

Games, in fact, were where Carmen was born she was the indisputed Queen of Crime of the computer and PC world, and in recent years, sheвЂ™s popped up in various online games. Comics, books, three separate television shows (and a Netflix show on the way, no less!).and video games.

WELL, NO MORE! ItвЂ™s high time the slippery lady in red got her due!Д¬armen Sandiego is a cult classic franchise that has touched almost every form of media out there. However, since then, I havenвЂ™t even given her a sideways glance here. Granted, I DID give her a quick mention as one of My Favorite Video Game Villains, way, way, WAY back in one of my first lists. You вЂ™s hard to believe that Carmen Sandiego has stayed off my lists for so long.
